1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing and using the Task Genius Plugin for Obsidian ("the Plugin"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Plugin.
2. License Grant
2.1 Open Source License
The Task Genius Plugin is distributed under the Functional Source License, Version 1.1 with an Apache License v2.0 Future License.

2.2 Permitted Use
Subject to these Terms and the applicable license, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:
- Use the Plugin within Obsidian for personal or commercial task management
- Modify the Plugin's source code for your own use
- Study and review the Plugin's source code
2.3 Restrictions
You may not:
- Sell, rent, lease, or sublicense the Plugin as a standalone product during the restriction period specified in the FSL
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Use the Plugin in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
3. Plugin Functionality
3.1 Description
The Plugin provides task management functionality within Obsidian, including:
- Task creation, organization, and tracking
- Integration with Obsidian notes and markdown files
- Local data storage within your Obsidian vault
- Customizable views and workflows
3.2 Updates
We may release updates, bug fixes, and new features for the Plugin from time to time. Updates are distributed through the Obsidian Community Plugins repository. You are not required to install updates, but we recommend doing so for security and functionality improvements.
4. User Responsibilities
4.1 Backup Your Data
The Plugin stores all data locally in your Obsidian vault. You are solely responsible for:
- Backing up your vault and task data
- Maintaining the integrity of your data
- Any data loss that may occur
4.2 Compatibility
You are responsible for ensuring:
- Your Obsidian version is compatible with the Plugin
- Your system meets any technical requirements
- You understand how the Plugin interacts with your vault
4.3 Proper Use
You agree to use the Plugin in accordance with:
- These Terms
- Obsidian's Terms of Service
- All applicable laws and regulations
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE PLUGIN IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
We do not warrant that:
- The Plugin will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Any defects will be corrected
- The Plugin will meet your specific requirements
- The Plugin is compatible with all systems or Obsidian versions
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use or inability to use the Plugin
- We are not liable for any data loss, corruption, or business interruption
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Plugin (which is zero for the free version)
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Boninall and the Plugin developers from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Plugin
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Any modifications you make to the Plugin's source code over the license
8. Open Source Community
8.1 Contributions
If you contribute code, bug reports, or suggestions to the Plugin:
- You grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use your contributions
- You represent that you have the right to make such contributions
- Your contributions may be incorporated into the Plugin under the FSL license
8.2 Community Standards
We encourage respectful participation in the Plugin's community. Harassment, abuse, or inappropriate behavior may result in being banned from community spaces.
9. Third-Party Software
The Plugin may use or depend on third-party libraries and components. These components are subject to their own licenses and terms, which you can find in the Plugin's repository.
10. Termination
10.1 By You
You may stop using the Plugin at any time by uninstalling it from Obsidian.
10.2 By Us
We reserve the right to discontinue development or support of the Plugin at any time without notice.
10.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your license to use the Plugin ends
- You should uninstall the Plugin from Obsidian
- Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limitations of liability, etc.) will continue to apply
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted in the Plugin's repository and on this page. Your continued use of the Plugin after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the People's Republic of China.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
14. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and applicable open source licenses, constitute the entire agreement between you and Boninall regarding the Plugin.
